For more than 60 years, the Polk County Ramp Tramp Festival has celebrated the wild ramp, a plant that grows in the mountainous regions of the eastern United States. This free, two-day event features live bluegrass, folk and gospel music, crafts, fun and fellowship, along with the traditional ramp meal of ramps in eggs, white beans, cornbread, fried potatoes and country bacon. The event is in two parts. The festival begins Friday evening, April 24, with the Bluegrass & Beans Kickoff at 6 p.m. The main festival takes place Saturday, April 25, and features more live music and outdoor crafts beginning at 10 a.m.
